Gluten-free cereal names of the week

Friday = gluten-free cereal name recognition day at Custom Choice Cereal!

We’ve seen your creativity come to play in past names for you gluten-free cereal mixes. Hopefully this post can serve as an inspiration and encouragement to think outside the box when it comes to naming your gluten-free cerealizations (more than listing the ingredients or giving it your own name). This week’s winners are:

5. Triple Berry Blend (berries are a top seller these days)
4. Fall Celebration Cereal (isn’t spring around the corner?)
3. Berries Plus (some “plus” to mix up the berries in that one…)
2. Leena’s Loca Lot (observe the alliteration!)
1. At the top of the list is Gin Tonic (Seriously? For breakfast?)

It’s finally getting warmer in North Carolina so it will be a good weekend. We hope all of you have a great and relaxing weekend as well!

2 weeks of gluten-free cereal names

Yes it’s true. Custom Choice Cereal skipped the usual blog entry honoring your creativity in naming your custom gluten-free cereal mixes last Friday. However, we felt that our update on the fake gluten-free bakery being shut down was more important. Thanks once again to the representatives of the NCDA&CS for the helpful and interesting information they provided.

This also means that we had more candidates to choose from this week, and selecting the most creative or “best” names for your gluten-free cereal was again a challenging task.

5. Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum (sounds like a fast food chain’s melody…)
4. cranpricalm flakes (because we can’t even pronounce it)
3. Good Morning Nuts (interesting, to say the least:-))
2. Active Mountain (from VA, sounded like hiking fuel)
1. And our favorite Fruity Pecan Madness

Thanks again for being so creative in naming your gluten-free cereal. If you feel that your creativity deserves to be mentioned but is not included in the list above, please feel free to add your name as a comment to this blog entry. Have a great weekend!

All of you are doing a great job and take advantage of the opportunity to name your personal gluten-free cereal. We can unfortunately not recognize each name, and the selection below as well as our comments are heavily subjective. Please feel free to comment or send us an email if you think it is unjust that your name is not part of the list – we always appreciate any form of feedback!

Week in review, gluten-free cereal names

To some it’s just the end of another week, to Custom Choice Cereal it’s the end of an exciting week. We went to a presentation on celiac disease & gluten-free diet options on Tuesday evening. It was great to connect with celiacs and other people on a gluten-free diet, and we were pointed to a great resource with tips and tricks for gluten-free baking. Of course we shared what we learned with you!

The exciting news for us was the nice article about our custom gluten-free cereal that was published in the Durham Herald-Sun! It is important that we like to stay connected with the local gluten-free and celiac community. We therefore invite everyone in the Triangle area to save on shipping by marking the checkbox “pick up from facility” during checkout and come by our facility in person.

Finally, here are the best/most creative gluten-free cereal names of the week.

5. Good Morning Kyle!!! (sweet use of exclamation marks ;-) )
4. Wendy’s Morning Munchies (nice)
3. Breakfast treat (so true!)
2. First tie ever: Yummy! and High Five!!
1. And this week’s winner is Bundle of Joy

Thank you for your creativity, it makes our job even more fun!

Writing on celiac-friendly destination, skipping gluten-free cereal names

It’s Friday, which usually means that Custom Choice Cereal publishes the funniest/most creative mix names that you came up with for your gluten-free cereal. But there is no rule without exceptions…

Instead we wanted to share with you another website that allows your to publish your reviews on gluten-free restaurants, hotels, resorts, cruise ships, and grocery stores. Since it focuses on preparing you for your travels, the site is called GlutenFreeTravelSite.com.

What we found especially interesting is that the site recognized Florida as the “World’s Most Celiac-Friendly Destination“. We did the check, and the site is actually operated out of Virginia, which lends this award even more credibility. What struck us was the reason for this result. The large number of (apparently good) reviews for Disney properties made Florida the winner because they take special diets very seriously. Maybe we should plan our next vacation in sunny Florida??

3 events, at least 1 gluten-free

Custom Choice Cereal would like to the time to reflect on the first full week of the year 2010. Three “events” particularly stand out to us.

Top 10 recent trends in foodThe Fort Worth Star-Telegram published an article reviewing “The top 10 recent trends in food“. Trends mentioned in this retrospective include local food, childhood obesity, food safety, and as number 6 our favorite: gluten-free food! As mentioned in our reflection on the IN list by the Washington Post, let’s hope this is not only a fad but continues because celiac disease is a fact and certainly won’t go away.

Second is last night’s exciting BCS Championship game we were able to witness between Alabama and Texas! We have to say that we did feel sorry for Texas QB Colt McCoy having to watch most of the game from the sideline after injuring his shoulder less than 5 minutes into the game. But Alabama was the better team, and the 37-21 victory was well deserved. Sorry to all you Longhorn fans out there…

Finally, due to the Holidays we owe you an update of our gluten-free cereal names of the week. Here are our top 5 of the New Year:

5. Mi Cereal (interesting)
4. Nuuuuts! (guess what was in that mix…)
3. Best Cereal (that’s right!)
2. CinnaApriPump (combining the ingredients to a new word)
1. And the winner Hazy CranPear ‘Nola

Thanks again for being creative. We enjoy reading your cereal names!

Gluten-free cereal names of the week

We try to make it a habit to publish the most creative names for your gluten-free cereal creations every Friday – and have to apologize because we missed last week. Custom Choice Cereal therefore faced the tough decision to choose the best names of not one but two weeks, and here are our top 5:

5. Hajjjjjooooooo! (I did not want this on this list ;-) )
4. Clint Loves Adrianne (sweet!)
3. Bella is Missing (not good, we hope you found/find her)
2. Elizabeth and Mamma’s Winter ‘Nola (it certainly looked yummy!)
1. And the winner is… GF Deliciousness (you had that one right!)

Our job is a lot of fun, but I have to say that one of the best parts is seeing how creative you can be when naming your customized gluten-free cereal mixes. Please keep surprising us!

Custom gluten-free cereal in newspaper

It’s only a small step but sometimes it is the small things in life that make a difference. At least we were very excited to see Custom Choice Cereal featured in a short article on the homepage of the Colorado Springs Independent earlier this week.

The fun part is that the author of the article Matthew Schniper already suggests some pretty good names for your customized gluten-free cereal mixes. Check it out and read the whole article by clicking on the picture below!

Gluten-free cereal names of the week

Same procedure as every Friday – it’s the time where Custom Choice Cereal has to make the tough choice determining the funniest/best/most creative names that you gave your gluten-free cereal creations over the last week. While last week was a pretty easy pick we are back to a more difficult decision.

To give you a very quick overview, it started kind of slow with naming mixes mostly after yourselves, but then it kicked off:

  • Tropical Dream (lifting the morning spirit in this weather)
  • Almost Tropical Morning Mix (not the same person!)
  • Blue Straw (seriously?)
  • mike i do love you (what says it more than custom GF cereal?)
  • Cinnaminaminamin (guess what base this was…)

This week’s winner deserves credit because she did a great job of using the ingredients to name her gluten-free cereal mixes, and we therefore have a couple of mix names that win this time: “Bananola”, “Corny Nanaraisins”, and “Flakes of Banconut”. If this does not encourage creativity for the next week, I don’t know what does!
