Loading ...Though I have been living in the US for quite some time now I still get asked the same question over and over again as soon as people find out that I am from Germany – “Don’t you guys love David Hasselhoff over there?”. After a while I gave up commenting on this… It is true that 
The Hoff gave a concert right AFTER the Berlin Wall came down in 1989, though it is NOT true that he contributed to this great historic event. Instead, this can be attributed to the people in the former East Germany and their “Peaceful Revolution” and three political leaders of the time: US President George H. W. Bush, Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, and German Chancellor Helmut Kohl.
Anyway… Thanks to Norma Mcdonald and Saturday Night Live the perception that David Hasselhoff is “loved by Germans” sticks. Talking about this fact – again – with the Custom Choice Cereal team during lunch yesterday resulted in the following thought process:
- The Hoff is the “greatest American import to Germany”
- We need to make Custom Choice Cereal known as the “greatest German import to the United States”
- Let’s combine the two
- We came up with a mission: personally deliver a bag of custom gluten-free cereal to David Hasselhoff by the end of March 2010
