Erin Elberson writes the blog gluten free fitness, focusing on “eating well to be well” and “nutrition, fitness, and fun with a celiac spin”. When Custom Choice Cereal came across her blog we immediately said to ourselves that we have to try anything to be featured on it.
In addition to writing a stellar review of our custom gluten-free cereal, Erin mentioned that we are an “advocate for awareness of celiac disease and the gluten-free lifestyle”. She is also the first blogger EVER to mention our Quest for The Hoff, something that is very dear to my heart (Germans loooove David Hasselhoff in case you did not know this). Erin thought this to be “absolutely hysterical and made me almost fall of my chair and spit my coffee onto my keyboard. I love the humor. Points for that!”
Thank you Erin, we definitely like to look at the humorous side of life and appreciate your encouraging words! But honestly, how cool would it be if we could really personally hand a bag of our customized gluten-free cereal to The Hoff??
Time is flying by and it is already mid February! This means that Custom Choice Cereal only has a little over a month left on our Quest for The Hoff.
It all started as a rather silly idea during an office lunch in November 2009: the goal to personally deliver a bag of customized gluten-free cereal to David Hasselhoff since Germans “love” him so much… We set ourselves a timeline until March, and since we have so far not been successful in mailing samples to his publicist or agency, any ideas, suggestions, connections you might have and are willing to share are highly appreciated. Thanks a lot for all your input!
Those of you that follow our blog know that during a crazy lunch in November 2009 the team at Custom Choice Cereal came up with the mission to personally deliver a bag of gluten-free cereal to The Hoff by March 2010. That’s awfully close, so we better get going…. We welcome any comments, ideas, or suggestions you might have how to accomplish this mission!
We just found out that Howie Mandell is replacing David Hasselhoff on “America’s got Talent” so that The Hoff can pursue his dream of starting his own TV show. Hopefully he will announce more about this TV show soon as he promises, and we can find another route to provide him with a sample of our custom gluten-free cereal!
Last week saw a short break in our Quest for The Hoff – depicted to the right in the center of his fellow life-saviors from Baywatch – because of Thanksgiving but we are back at it now! It still is our explicit goal to personally deliver a bag of custom gluten-free cereal to David Hasselhoff by March 2010.
Unfortunately there was no reaction from his publicist to whom we sent the first sample of gluten-free cereal. The team at Custom Choice Cereal therefore decided on a slight change of strategy and will now reach out to his agency. From here on out we’ll switch between these two when sending our weekly gluten-free cereal. We just hope that there thoughts are not along the lines “This stuff is great, keep it coming, we’ll never tell The Hoff about this!” Please let us know if you have any ideas how meet our goal to meet The Hoff!
The Quest for The Hoff goes into another round. As you can see from the picture above, we are sending the first gluten-free cereal mix to David Hasselhoff’s publicist today.
Who knows if this first sample will already lead to a result? Regardless, the goal remains to personally deliver a bag of Custom Choice Cereal’s gluten-free cereal to The Hoff by March 2010. We like to think of this as just another step towards our goal
Though I have been living in the US for quite some time now I still get asked the same question over and over again as soon as people find out that I am from Germany – “Don’t you guys love David Hasselhoff over there?”. After a while I gave up commenting on this… It is true that
The Hoff gave a concert right AFTER the Berlin Wall came down in 1989, though it is NOT true that he contributed to this great historic event. Instead, this can be attributed to the people in the former East Germany and their “Peaceful Revolution” and three political leaders of the time: US President George H. W. Bush, Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, and German Chancellor Helmut Kohl.
Anyway… Thanks to Norma Mcdonald and Saturday Night Live the perception that David Hasselhoff is “loved by Germans” sticks. Talking about this fact – again – with the Custom Choice Cereal team during lunch yesterday resulted in the following thought process:
- The Hoff is the “greatest American import to Germany”
- We need to make Custom Choice Cereal known as the “greatest German import to the United States”
- Let’s combine the two
- We came up with a mission: personally deliver a bag of custom gluten-free cereal to David Hasselhoff by the end of March 2010
We will keep you posted on what’s happening, but please also let us know what you would do to fulfill this mission!
