2010 is here and celiac disease is IN

What's In and Out in 2010The Washington Post ranked what’s in and what’s out in the year 2010. The list contains sad but apparent facts (funemployment and Intervention are out, deferrals and Hoarders are in), but its humorous style still made us smile.

We at Custom Choice Cereal were struck most by the fact that celiac disease is IN!

This is good because it helps raising awareness for CD and thereby supports those who suffer from it. Similar to the fad of the gluten-free diet, an increased number of gluten-free products on the market benefits celiacs and those with gluten intolerance. But we are torn because it is also a bad sign. Things that are on the IN list one year most likely won’t appear on it the following year. But for those who have it celiac disease won’t go away. Quite the contrary, it will continue to increase as more people get diagnosed correctly and the number of undiagnosed celiacs diminishes from its currently estimated shocking 97%.

Let’s therefore use this momentum and take advantage of celiac disease being IN while it lasts so that there will be a lasting positive effect for all those who suffer from it!
