Mouth-watering product pictures taken

Good Morning FlakesWe commissioned Adam Hajnos, a local photographer and graphic designer, to take pictures of our ingredients for the website.  Unlike many of our competitors, our website will show pictures of the actual ingredients that will comprise our delicious cereal mixes.  I think you will agree that Adam did an outstanding job – just looking at the pictures makes me hungry for some gluten-free goodness!Strawberries

Custom Choice Cereal is just a few short steps away from becoming fully operational and we hope to begin testing our website by the end of next week. Please enjoy your Independence Day holiday and don’t forget to spread the word about us to your friends and family!Banana Chips

It’s official

It is official – Custom Choice Cereal moved into the facility, and we have been working from our new location for almost a week now. It just feels great to be in our own space, and the location is absolutely perfect! The signs to our business were put on the door today, and that makes it official. We wanted to share this great moment with you, so here is a picture of it!

Ever closer to launch

Even though only two workdays of this week have passed, we made significant progress, and a lot of the hard work of the past months seems to have culminated into the past two days.

We are very excited to have received the keys to our facility in the Research Triangle Park and are now in the process of moving in. This means a lot of cleaning, and as a gluten-free company, the crew at Custom Choice Cereal called each manufacturer before purchasing and made sure that all cleaning supplies used in the facility are entirely gluten-free.

By the end of the week, our desks, internet and phones should be set up and we are coming ever closer to our launch date. Having moved into our own cereal mixing facility in the perfect setup – office space and a big “clean room” where the actual cereal mixes will be created are separated – feels very good. Stay tuned as we complete the last steps to become the first company to offer entirely gluten-free customizable cereal conveniently delivered to your doorstep!

Gluten-free is tax deductible

Here are some good news:  the additional costs resulting from the purchase of gluten-free food items instead of the comparable conventional food that contains gluten are tax deductible.  Details on how to qualify for these tax deductions and a short “to do” list can be found on our page with information about celiac disease.  Let’s hope the IRS keeps this rule up, and make sure you keep all receipts from your gluten-free food purchases!

Quest for a facility

So far we have been working out of a room at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, but this is about to change.  Through the great help of our outstanding real estate broker – Synergy Commercial Advisors – Custom Choice Cereal will likely/hopefully be able to move into our mixing facility by the end of next week.  We are extremely excited about this and are in contact with the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (NCDA&CS) to get the facility inspected soon after setting it up.  Hopefully we can show some pictures of the facility soon!

By the way, the people at the Food & Drug Protection division within the NCDA&CS are very friendly and helpful, so we can only advise anyone who plans to start a food business to get into contact with them rather sooner than later.
